TreeCasa Hotel & Resort: A Treehouse Paradise in Nicaragua
Our family stay at TreeCasa Hotel & Resort near San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua - treehouse villas, stunning pools, farm-to-table dining, and panoramic ocean views in one of Central America's most unique eco-luxury resorts.
During our family trip to Nicaragua in February 2026, we spent two unforgettable nights at TreeCasa Hotel & Resort, a stunning eco-luxury property nestled in the hills above San Juan Del Sur. From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a different world. Treehouse living meets boutique luxury here, and every corner reveals another breathtaking view of the Pacific coastline.
First Impressions
The drive up to TreeCasa from San Juan Del Sur takes about 10 minutes along a winding hillside road. As soon as we pulled in, the kids were wide-eyed. The property is built around massive old-growth trees, with wooden walkways, spiral staircases, and elevated platforms connecting the different areas of the resort. It feels like an adventure playground for adults and kids alike.

The check-in process was smooth and welcoming. The staff immediately made us feel at home, and the kids were handed fresh fruit juice while we got settled. The entire property has a laid-back, nature-first atmosphere that sets the tone for the stay.
The Treehouse Lookout Tower
One of the most impressive features of TreeCasa is the treehouse lookout tower. This towering steel and wood structure is built around one of the massive old-growth trees on the grounds, rising high into the canopy with spiral staircases winding up through the branches. The structure is absolutely amazing and provided incredible views of the surrounding jungle and Pacific coastline.

The kids absolutely loved climbing the wooden staircases that wind up through the trees. It felt like a real-life adventure every time. They could have spent the entire trip just running up and down these stairs.

Our Villa
Our room was a treehouse-style villa, cozy, beautifully designed, and nestled into the hillside among the trees. Walking inside, we were immediately struck by the craftsmanship. The villa was floor-to-ceiling wood, from the rich Parota hardwood floors and furniture to the stunning thatched palm leaf roof overhead. Parota, also known as Guanacaste, is a tropical hardwood native to Nicaragua and Central America, and TreeCasa sources it locally from the surrounding forests. The warm golden-brown tones of the wood gave the entire space a natural, earthy feel that perfectly matched the jungle setting outside.

The beds were comfortable, the amenities were modern, and the balcony offered panoramic views of the surrounding jungle and glimpses of the ocean in the distance. Waking up to the sound of birds and howler monkeys in the canopy was something our family will never forget.
The Pools
TreeCasa has multiple pools spread across the property, and each one has its own character. The main pool area features a stunning thatched-roof pavilion that serves as both the restaurant and a gathering spot.

But the real showstopper is the infinity-style pool tucked into the hillside, surrounded by tropical plants and offering a serene escape. The kids spent hours here, and honestly, so did we.

At night, the pools transform into something truly magical. The coloured lighting reflects off the water while the sounds of the jungle create an incredible atmosphere. We spent our evenings here after dinner, just taking it all in.

The Views
One of the biggest surprises at TreeCasa was the views. Perched on the hillside above San Juan Del Sur, the resort offers sweeping panoramas of the Pacific Ocean, the surrounding hills, and the lush Nicaraguan countryside. The covered terrace areas are perfect for watching the sunset with a drink in hand.

Food & Dining
The food at TreeCasa deserves its own mention. The resort operates a farm-to-table restaurant that sources ingredients from their own organic garden. Every meal we had was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. From tropical fruit plates at breakfast to fresh seafood at dinner, the culinary experience was a highlight of our stay.
The restaurant sits under the gorgeous thatched-roof structure overlooking the main pool, so you’re dining with a view at every meal. The staff were attentive and accommodating with the kids, which made mealtimes relaxed and enjoyable.
Family-Friendly Experience
What really set TreeCasa apart for us was how naturally family-friendly it felt. This isn’t a resort that simply tolerates kids. The entire property is an adventure for them. The treehouse walkways, the winding staircases, the pools, the nature trails. Our kids were constantly exploring and discovering something new.
The staff were incredibly warm and patient with our little ones, and the spacious family suites meant we had plenty of room to spread out. It struck the perfect balance between luxury and adventure, which is exactly what we look for as a family.
